We know that conflict checks are an integral part of the placement process for pro bono attorneys, so we've built this step into Paladin!
Once a prospective volunteer expresses interest in an opportunity on Paladin, their information is logged in the Volunteer Management tab of the opportunity detail. You will now see a "Initiate Conflict Check" button next to each volunteer's name.
Clicking the "Initiate Conflict Check" button will open a box where you can compose a message to the volunteer with the information for their conflict check. You may copy yourself or other Paladin admins at your organization on this email. You can also check the box at the bottom to automatically update the volunteer's status to Placed once they indicate that conflicts have cleared.
2. Once you send the message to the volunteer, the Conflict Check status will change to "Conflict check requested on [date]."
3. The volunteer will receive an email containing information about the matter along with your message. The volunteer can then use the buttons in the notification email to notify you of whether conflicts have cleared or not. (A reminder will automatically be sent if the volunteer has not responded after 48 hours.)
4. When the volunteer submits their response, the volunteer's status on the opportunity detail will be automatically updated to show either "Conflicts identified" or "Conflicts cleared" with the date the response was submitted. You will also receive an email notification with the result.
5. You can then use the Volunteer Messaging tool to communicate with the volunteer as needed. If the volunteer was not automatically placed when conflicts cleared, click the "Place" button to confirm that they have taken on the opportunity. Now they're ready to get to work!
Note: The conflict check request functionality was developed as part of our LegalServer integration. However, it can be utilized even if your organization is not using or does not plan to integrate LegalServer.
