When your organization launches Paladin, you'll receive an email with an account activation link. Click the link to connect with your Paladin account, which has already been set up for you.

Upon first login, you'll see a page inviting you to set your pro bono and volunteer preferences. Setting your preferences allows Paladin to customize your pro bono search experience by highlighting matters that match your interest in your weekly pro bono digest and within the Paladin opportunity database.

You can select up to four preferences in each of three categories: Engagement Type, Practice Area, and Community Served.

You can now set preferences for certain skills that you would like to acquire through pro bono work. When completing the preferences page, you will now be able to select up to five areas for development!

Save your preferences at the bottom of the page, and click through to the pro bono and volunteer opportunity database.

If at any time you would like to add to or edit your preferences, simply click on the drop down menu in the top right corner and select "My Profile & Preferences".

You can navigate the database a number of ways: scroll through, search a keyword, click on a tag applied to an opportunity listing (including an organization name), or navigate to the top of the screen to filter by any tag. You can search by engagement type, practice area, causes and communities, license requirement, and also by location type, such as remote.

Click on the title of any opportunity to view the listing page, where you'll see a brief description of the matter or project, and any additional information provided by the referring organization, such as time commitment, volunteer training, or skills.

If you're interested in the project or opportunity, click "Express Interest." (Or, in the case of an event, click "I'd like to attend.") This will send an email to you and the referring organization together, so you can correspond on next steps, such as a conflicts check. Your Paladin Pro Bono Admin will also be copied on this email for transparency and support.

(Note: For Paladin users at select law firms and legal departments, this notification will not go to the referring organization, but will instead be directed to the pro bono counsel, pro bono committee chair, or project lead. You will still be copied on this email. Consult the pro bono team at your organization for specific details.)

You can visit the database any time to see a real-time catalog of available opportunities that fit your skills, interests, and availability. Thank you for using Paladin, and happy volunteering!
