Paladin provides the ability to use and apply tags to timekeepers and matters. Tag Management allows Admin users to customize and create Tag Types and Tag Names. This allows Admins to categorize timekeepers and matters and leverage this information in saved views and/or reports. This article will cover:

Customizing and Updating Tags

Managing firm tags is simple! Navigate to your menu in the upper right-hand corner of the page and select Insights Settings. From there, scroll to Tags Management.

On this page, Admins are able to edit the titles of existing Tag Types, which can be thought of as categories, as well as add New Tag Types. These Tag Types will also be available as columns on the Timekeeper and Matter Tables, as well as on the respective detail pages. Tag Types include: Timekeepers, Matters, Timekeeper Notes & Matter Notes.

To see the tags in action, see the section below on applying tags.

Creating a New Tag Type will add it as a tag category. Once a Tag Type is created, you will be able to add tag names that you would like included as options within the type. Complete the details for the new tag type and note things such as description, usage, and tag visibility.

Adding, editing, or archiving tags within the category can be accomplished by clicking on the Tag Type name. Here the tags can be managed in the same way Tag Types are managed.

Note: Aside from the Tag Type name, you can only edit or archive tag types for Paladin created tags. Tags that are ingested nightly from your data reports are not able to be edited.

Customizing Tag Display Order

You can customize the order in which your tags appear across the platform. To update the display order, follow these simple steps:

Click the "Actions" icon on the top left corner of the Tag Types table and select "Edit Display Order".

From here, you will be able to drag and drop the tag types into your preferred order.

Once complete, click "Save Display Order" at the bottom of the table.

When this is done, your tags will be in your desired order across the platform, including timekeeper and matter tables, filters and columns, as well as reports!

Note: Tag order is organization-wide. Editing this order will change the view for all users at your firm.

Applying Tags to Timekeepers and Matters

Tags can be applied for Timekeepers and Matters via the tables or within detail pages and can be applied individually and in bulk. Tag Categories are available within the "columns" tab for addition to your tables.

Select multiple timekeepers or matters to apply tags in bulk.

A pop-out window will appear to manage the tags for the selected timekeepers or matters. Expand the caret next to the Tag Type to apply the specific tags. For longer lists, the search can be leveraged to filter the results. Press Save Tags to apply to the tags.

Applying Tags on Detail Pages

From the Timekeeper or Matter Detail page, the Tags tile is on the right-hand side of the page. Select Edit Tags to make any updates to the current tags for a timekeeper or matter.

Once the edit modal is open, a number will be next to each Tag Type, indicating how many tags are selected within that category. Press the caret to show the selected tags. Tags applied to this timekeeper or matter will be highlighted in green.

  • To ADD a tag, expand the category and simply click the token. Selections will turn green and will be applied to the timekeeper or matter.

  • To REMOVE a tag, click the 'X' next to the selected options.

  • To FILTER for tags in a longer list, use the "Search for tags" field to narrow the results.

❗ Be sure to Save Tags to apply them to the timekeeper or matter.
