Overview of the Public Opportunity List

The Public Opportunity List feature adds a whole new level of capacity and efficiency to your Paladin experience! Consolidate workflows and expand your reach by creating a public-facing opportunity database just for your organization's pro bono projects.

⚡️Once you have added opportunities to your public opportunity list, you can use the custom URL publicly, as well as embed the opportunity list on your website!

The Public Opportunity List makes it easy for legal service organizations to share real-time pro bono opportunity listings both within and outside of the Paladin network. Post your opportunity once, and share it out to partners across your volunteer pool! Reach more volunteers with up-to-date listings while increasing efficiency and saving time -- and, as part of our commitment to increasing access to justice, Paladin's tools are available at no cost to our LSO partners.

How does the Opportunity List Work?

In your Paladin admin dashboard, you can enable your Public Opportunity List to access a customized site that will host your organization's real-time opportunity database. Each time you publish a pro bono opportunity on Paladin, send it to the "Public Opportunity List" (in addition to your law firm partners within the Paladin network) and it will appear on your organization's public page!

Circulate the page link via your website, email, social media, or however you reach volunteers. Interested volunteers can visit the site, browse the available opportunities from your organization, sign up for events, and express interest in projects. You'll be automatically notified via email, as well as seeing the volunteer activity tracked in your Paladin dashboard.

When you add, remove, or edit opportunity listings, your public page will automatically update to reflect these changes, so volunteers are always seeing the most up-to-date information!

Read on for step-by-step instructions on enabling and utilizing the Public Opportunity List feature.

Instructions

Accessing and Sharing the Public Opportunity Page

  1. Click on Settings on the top navigation bar. A page will open displaying your public opportunity list URL (Figure 4) and the current private/public setting for your page (Figure 1).

  2. The default setting on the page is private. It will not be enabled unless you set it to public. To make the page public, move the toggle button to public (Figure 1).

  3. To view the opportunities currently available on the Opportunity List, click on the square arrow button to the right of the URL. (Figure 3) This will open your page in a new window for you to see what visitors to your public Opportunity List will see.

Tip: The page will be blank if you have not yet sent opportunities to this page.

  4. To share the link, navigate back to the Settings tab and click on Copy to Clipboard. (Figure 2) Paste to your web site, in email communications or on social media channels. Tip: You must have the toggle button set to public in order to see the Copy to Clipboard option and share the link.

Adding New or Existing Opportunities to Your Public Opportunity List

  1. To add a listing to your public opportunity list, click on New Opportunity on the top navigation bar.

  2. Fill in the fields on the Opportunity Form as you normally would, then navigate to the Send to drop-down menu at the bottom of the opportunity form.

  3. Select your organization’s Public Opportunity List from the dropdown menu, in addition to any Paladin-partnered firms you'd like to share the opportunity with. (Or click "Select All" if applicable.)

  4. Click Create and the new opportunity will be shared to your organization’s Public Opportunity List, as well as any Paladin-partnered firms you selected in the Send to dropdown.

Removing Opportunities from Your Public Opportunity List

  1. If you would like to stop recruiting for the opportunity, click the box next to the title in your Recruiting column and then click the red Stop Recruiting button that appears. Tip: This will remove the opportunity from your Opportunity List as well as from the opportunity database of any Paladin-partnered firms you shared it to.

Additional Tips

  1. The Opportunity List is organization-wide. This means that anyone at your organization with a Paladin administrator account can send opportunities to the Opportunity List, and set the list as public or private.

  2. If the Opportunity List is set to private, only Paladin administrators at your organization can view it. If the Opportunity List is set to public, anyone with the link can view it.

  3. You can send opportunities to the Opportunity List page even when it is set to private. (Visitors to the page will not be able to view the listings until it is toggled to public.)

  4. When it is set to public, volunteers without a Paladin account will be able to interact with opportunities on your page in a similar way to those with a Paladin account. The primary difference is that external visitors will need to fill in a Volunteer Interest Form when they Express Interest in order to submit their information to your organization.

  5. Volunteer interest and sign-ups from your public Opportunity List will appear in your Paladin dashboard in the "Interest Expressed" column, along with volunteer activity from your connections on Paladin.
