Connecting with Pro Bono Opportunities on Paladin

How to set preferences, browse opportunities, and express interest.

High Level Overview

When your organization launches Paladin, you'll receive an email with an account activation link. Click the link to connect with your Paladin account, which has already been set up for you.

Setting Preferences

Upon first login, users will be guided set pro bono and volunteer preferences. Setting preferences allows Paladin to customize the pro bono search experience by highlighting matters aligning to these interests in the weekly pro bono digest and within the Paladin opportunity database.

Up to four selections can be made in the following categories:

  • Engagement Type

  • Practice Area

  • Community Served

  • Skills Developed

Skills developed is another way to gain experience for attorneys own attorney development. When completing the preferences page, up to five areas for development can be selected.

✨ Be sure to click 'Save Profile' at the bottom of the page, and click through to the pro bono and volunteer opportunity database.

To make any changes to your profile and preferences, click on the drop down menu in the top right corner and select "My Profile & Preferences".

Browse Opportunities

Looking for an opportunity to volunteer for can be found through our List View or Calendar view, here are a few ways to find what you're looking for in either experience:

  • Scrolling through the list

    • (setting preferences will weight opportunities higher aligning with interests)

  • Paginate through the month view in the

  • Search by a keyword

  • Selecting any of the filters at the top or choose more filters for other parameters

  • Click on a tag applied to an opportunity listing (including an organization name)

List View of Opportunities

Scroll through the opportunities or filter to narrow down the options. Click on an opportunity title to view the entire opportunity detail, as well as timing, location, license and experience requirements.

Calendar View of Opportunities

Utilize the filters to narrow down the opportunities displayed on the calendar.

✨ Click on the event in the calendar to see a Quick View of the opportunity.

Express Interest

Interested in taking the next step on this opportunity - click "Express Interest." (Or, in the case of an event, click "I'd like to attend.") This will send an email connecting the volunteer and the referring organization together, to take the next steps, such as a conflicts check. Pro Bono Admins at the firm or organization will also be copied on this email for transparency and support.

(NOTE: For Paladin users at select law firms and legal departments this notification will not go to the referring organization, but will instead be directed to the Paladin pro bono admin. Volunteers will still be copied on this email. Consult the pro bono team at your organization for specific details.)
