The Historical Student Data tab on your Reports dashboard keeps a record of your past students' pro bono work after they graduate. Use it to confirm hours for alumni who need them for bar admission, jobs or fellowships, or to report on your program across past years.
Finding the Historical tab
Click the Reports tab from your Paladin homepage. Just below the "Dashboard" heading, you'll see two tabs on the right:
Current Student Data (opens by default)
Historical Student Data
Click Historical Student Data to view past students. Both tabs have the same Overview and Community Impact Trends views.
Who appears on the Historical tab
Paladin moves students to the Historical tab once a year, after August 1. Students whose graduation date is before August 1 move from the Current tab to the Historical tab.
For example, on August 1, 2026, students who graduated in May 2026 moved to the Historical tab. A student graduating in December 2026 stays on the Current tab for the rest of the academic year and moves on August 1, 2027.
Students who were deactivated during the year stay on the Current tab until the next August 1.
What you'll see
The Historical tab has the same charts and tables as the Current tab, filtered to your past students:
Overview Tab
Overview charts: student participation and goal tracking
All Historical Students: each student's total hours and whether they met their goal
All Historical Students & Their Opportunities: each student's individual matters
Opportunities Feed: matters completed by historical students, sorted by most recently updated
Historical Time Entries Feed: hours logged by historical students, which you can filter by date range
Community Impact Trends
Click Community Impact Trends to see where your past students focused their pro bono work.
You’ll see four charts, each ranked by total hours:
Top Providers by Hours: the organizations your past students worked with most
Top Causes & Communities by Hours: the causes and communities your past students served
Top Practice Areas by Hours: the areas of law your past students worked in
Top Skills Developed by Hours: the skills your past students built through their pro bono work
Below the tables, two pie charts show how many opportunities your past students took part in, broken down by Causes & Communities and Practice Areas. The charts count opportunities the same way as on the Current tab. A Paladin opportunity counts once the student confirms they took part. An opportunity the student added from outside Paladin counts as soon as it’s added.
Switching between tabs
Each tab keeps its own filters. If you filter the Current tab to JD 3Ls and switch to Historical, the Historical tab opens with no filters applied. When you switch back, your JD 3L filters are still there. Switching tabs always opens the Overview view.
Filters reset when you reload or leave the page. To share a filtered view with a colleague, copy the URL; it keeps the tab and filters you've applied.
Example: Confirming an alumna's hours
Go to Historical Student Data, filter All Historical Students by her name or Graduation Year, and check her Total Hours. To send her a full breakdown, use All Historical Students & Their Opportunities, filter to her name, and export from the Actions menu.
